From the July 2012 Board Meeting – The Rat Terrier of America is the official parent club for the Rat Terrier and to accept the Rat Terrier into the AKC Stud Book on June 1, 2013. The breed will be eligible to compete in the Terrier Group beginning June 26, 2013. There will be an open registry for the breed until July 1, 2018. |

The Rat Terrier Club of America was the first National organization to provide information and a standard for the Rat Terrier breed. Due to the officers, Board members and members efforts, Rat Terriers are now an AKC / FSS breed and eligible for participation in AKC performance events and as of July 1, 2010, Miscellaneous Group conformationThe Rat Terrier of America is the official parent club for the Rat Terrier and to accept the Rat Terrier into the AKC Stud Book on June 1, 2013 |
